Candidate data

With our partners at 50:50 Parliament and Chamber UK we have been collecting data on candidate selections in the run up to the 2024 General Election. We have been using data in the public domain so these figures are approximate. We are calling on all parties to publish candidate data to ensure that there is a full and accurate picture of how many women have been selected. We are also calling on parties to enact section 106 of the Equality Act, which would mandate the publication of diversity data on candidate selections. From what we have seen it looks like women only make up 30% of all the candidates standing across the country. If we are to achieve a gender equal Parliament by 2028, the centenary of equal suffrage, much greater action will be needed. We will continue to work with the parties to try and make that happen. You can sign our pledge for action to deliver a #GenderEqualParliament here.
