We were delighted to receive this letter from Baroness Smith in June 2026 confirming:
‘On section 106, the Government is committed to broadening political representation. This includes commencement of section 106, which will encourage better political representation by ensuring political parties publish diversity data.’
and
‘…we are revisiting the opportunity to include elected office legislation in the Representation of the People Bill, provided it does not delay the fund.’
We will continue to campaign for Section 106 to be brought into force as soon as possible and for an access to elected office fund to be included in the Representation of the People Bill.
